49% Off Signatures at “Taste of 7th St.” on Feb 27-28

One street. One weekend. Experience the sensational Taste of 7th Street.

We’ve made it easier for you to experience New York’s best restaurants for half the price by setting an entire street on sale! In the heart of East Village, 7th Street is polka-dotted with bustling salons, spas, and boutiques that are so characteristically New York, but also comprises the most gossiped about dishes that have been declared “rare,” “best” and “unusual” by the city’s food cognoscenti. Foodies claim that “You can go around the world in one block!” offering diverse, multi-cultural cuisine. But don’t take our word for it— grab your friends, family, or your hot date and come experience the grub for yourself!

Good for use during the inaugural “Taste of 7th Street” food festival running from February 27th - 28th, 2010 (either in one sitting or across the two-day affair), todays scoop features nearly half-off the best signature menu items of 7th Street’s constellation of culinary delight! A mere $18 with this Scoop St. exclusive gets you $35 worth of the following sweets and savories at a discount that’s the chance of a lifetime (with an added bonus of $1 off beers from select bars!)

  • Caracas Arepa Bar - Arepa De Pabellón
  • Luke’s Lobster - Snack Sized Lobster Roll
  • Porchetta - Porchetta Sandwich
  • Butter Lane Cupcakes - Choice of Two Cupcakes
  • Xoom - 24oz Fruit Smoothie

First, Caracas Arepa Bar’s authentic Venezuelan pocket sandwiches, considered the Latin sloppy Joe, will have you dreaming of the Carribean coast. This scoop gets you one De Pabellón arepa! Tucked inside these golden, soft-pocket corn arepas, is a magical world where you can build a pyramid of deliciousness— starting with a base of black beans, white salty cheese and building up to flavor-infused shredded beef and layered sweet plantains!

Next, get a lobster roll at Luke’s Lobster! With the minimalist mentality of a true Maine lobsterman, only the sweet knuckles and claws lie atop these grilled buns and embellishments strictly include a squirt of mayo and a pinch of celery salt. The sheer simplicity at the lobster shack is its forte, and these irresistible rolls are considered the “Holy Grail of crustacean cuisine.”

Thirdly, devour one of Porchetta’s mouthwatering pork sandwiches, where you will feel like you’ve wandered into the finer food stalls and butcher shops of Rome! With a plethora of different textures, you can opt for the moist, fine grained loin meat or the chewy, fatty type that melts in your mouth.

Fourthly, get two cupcakes at Butter Lane, made with pure ingredients like real vanilla beans, pure cocoa, rich darkchocolate, and fresh fruit that will fill your tummy with yumminess! Butter Lane’s treats prove that the homestyle wholesomeness from your mother’s kitchen can be found in New York’s urban jungle. Sink your teeth into delectable frosting flavor classics like key lime or blueberry or, for the more eclectic tastes, flavors like cream-cheese or grapefruit ginger frosting.

Lastly, Xoom is the perfect ending to your food crawl, with refreshing smoothies (scoop good for Smashing Strawberries, Paint it Blackberry, Yo la Mango, Apple Pie in the Sky, Protein Titan and Ultimate Energy) made with a half-pound of fruit, non-fat frozen fresh yogurt and no sugar additives as well as a “xoomer” nutrient boost. All juices are 100% juice and no preservatives! With a myriad of selections in every color of the rainbow, this smoothie bar has unique combinations like the “apple pie in the sky” with soy milk, apples, bananas, granola, almonds and cinnamon to provide a beverage so delicious you won’t believe that it’s nutritious!

Drink Specials

After you’ve satiated yourself with this five course meal along 7th Street without making a dent in your wallet, get ready for the pub action with $1 off beers when presenting the “Taste of 7th Street” voucher! Come throw a few back at the following bars that have the stamp of approval of “Good Beer Seal,” specifically denoted to local alehouses with proven “commitment to craft beer, community presence and sustainaility.”

First, Jimmy’s No. 43, offers a smorgasbord of beers and handcrafted draught curated by owned Jimmy Carbone, with 12 quality European & local selections on tap and 13 in the bottle. For those New Yorkers who prefer light beers, opt for the Otter Creek Vermont lager, a classic European style lager, and for those that enjoy a thicker body, opt for the Six Point Bengali IPA, a floor-malted base malt with afull-bodied and rich caramel flavor and whole East Kent Goldings hops.

Next, although the monastery-themed bar, Burp Castle, may sound like a children’s fantasy, it is certainly a playground for grownups, or at least 21 year olds, with 12 draft and 40 bottled beers imported from Belgium, Germany, and Britain. This bar caters to both sexes with “girly beer,” fruity sensations such as Lindeman’s Kriek, a peach and raspbery twist, or Redstone Sunshine Nectar, a mead with apricot puree, and masculinity affirming Coniston’s Bluebird Bitter Beer or De Koninck Belgian Ale Beer.

Finally, Standings Bar is the icing on the cake with its unique brews like Abita Purple Haze Beer a crisp, American style wheat beer with fresh raspberries or the popular Weyerbacher Winter Ale which is brewed with deep-roasted chocolate malt.

Don’t miss the Tate of 7th Street extravaganza where every bite out of The Big Apple is 50% off!

Caracas Arepa Bar (4.5 stars/Yelp)

“OMG - this place was AWESOME. There is a wait to get a table because the place is small, but SO worth the wait. We had a cozy table and all of the servers somehow took care of us and were wonderful. We ordered the guac, which was zesty and delicious. Next we ordered an assortment of arepas, and I was blown aay. SO simple but so tasty.” - Scott H., Yelp

Luke’s Lobster (4 stars/Yelp)

“Luke’s is the best lobster roll I’ve tasted because it’s served without being drenched in blended mayonnaise. The texture is dominated by lobster meat and Luke’s seasoning mix is awesome too. The claw meat is amazing. The bun is warm and toasted just right.” - Michael S., Yelp

Opening Scoop St. in New York

Today was a big day at Scoop St. HQ in Union Square. After nearly a year and a half of hard work and understanding the mechanics, logic and success of a buying mechanism known as “tuangou” in China and select niches online - we opened Scoop St. to the masses (well, the masses of New York City to start) offering unbelievable deals from amazing local businesses. We’re thrilled to be sharing what we consider our DNA to the rest of NYC through the power of group buying.

We’re also fortunate to receive some great reviews and spotlight from some of our favorite publishers throughout the country, such as The New York Times, The Business Insider and ReadWriteWeb. Take a look at what they had to say about group buying and our thoughts on a new means of local marketing for small businesses.

To friends/family/members - we’re still replying to all tweets/emails/phone calls to thank everyone of you for your support to date, so please be on the lookout for replies. :)

To Better Deals, Together!

Buzz Around Town

“This place is great. I tend to run into places in New York where the color does not last. I have also seen nail salons that water down their polish. Element is by far the best nail salon I have used so far in my young life. The color usually lasts me about at least 3 full weeks without a chip on my toes. The massage chairs for pedicures are very comfortable as well. They also have great packages for kids. They have one where the water turns into gel so its pretty fun for the children. Guilty. I know about this because I couldn’t resist and tried it last time.”- JiaJia Z., Yelp

“The comfy chairs, immediate water or tea…massage turned on…and lavender smelling scents in the water…the manicurist was great (Mimi) – she was attentive and helped me select some great colors…and she really scrubbed my feet which were super dry from the winter weather. She used lavender scrub – which i believe is made by element, and i ended up buying the scrub and lotion for home ($12 each). I love the drying area with the magazines..and the flat screens do make the place super comfortable! Definitely a must come back!”- Diane L., Yelp

“My #1 go to manicure place! I live a few blocks away from Element Beauty Lounge…but I bypass all those closer nail salons on the way and come here! The service is great at Element – not only is the location new and polished, they have a huge assortment of colors, they serve tea and/or lemon water… they totally take care of you! The details really deserve some applause here. Element always has up-to-date magazines that are in pristine condition, the numerous flat screen tvs are always set on great music videos, and the technicians aren’t overly chatty and really concentrate on the customer. A really comfortable and friendly place where you can totally relax and unwind. I really love this place and will continue to come here!”- Diane C., Yelp
